The अलगनी | Clotheslines collection is my love letter to the Indian homes I grew up around — sometimes mine, sometimes borrowed. Clotheslines always felt like soft portals into the lives behind them. Returning to India as a third-culture kid, they became small anchors, reminders of who I am and where I come from. These pieces carry those stories: soft fabrics turned into hand-drawn lines, sunlit memories carved into clay. Every piece in this collection is tied together, yet uniquely different — just like the alganis themselves.

Each piece in this collection has been hand-thrown in stoneware clay, hand-painted with underglaze, hand carved, inlaid with black designer liner, glazed individually and then fired at cone 6 in a kiln. The exterior is left raw to mimic old terraces and sun-warmed walls where these clotheslines exist. The interior and lip of the pots have been glazed with a matte/ glossy glaze for functionality and ease of use.

Commissions

Custom commissions start at ₹2,000, with the final price depending on the size, complexity and level of detail involved. As each piece is handmade, please allow approximately 4–6 weeks for creation and shipping. Larger or more detailed orders may require additional time.

Once we have discussed and finalized the design, a 50% deposit is required to secure your commission slot and begin work on your piece. The remaining balance will be due before shipping.

I'll share progress updates throughout the making process so you can follow your piece as it comes to life.

To ensure each commission receives the attention it deserves, I accept a limited number of custom orders at a time. If commissions are fully booked, you can choose to join the waiting list and I'll contact you as soon as a slot becomes available.

Shipping Policy

  • Custom Orders: Commissioned items are dispatched within 4-5 weeks from the date of finalization and payment.
  • In-Stock Ceramics: In-stock pieces are shipped within 5-8 business days.
  • As a one-woman studio, each order is handled with dedicated care and attention. Every step of the process —from packing to dispatch — takes time, and we truly appreciate your patience and support.
  • Shipping timelines are estimates and may vary due to courier delays, weather conditions, or peak seasons. Studio Maitri is not responsible for delays caused by the courier company. Once your order is dispatched, tracking details will be shared — however, we are not liable for delays after handover to the courier.
  • In the event of a lost parcel, we will assist in raising a complaint with the courier, though we cannot guarantee resolution or replacements.
  • Please ensure your shipping address is accurate at checkout. Studio Maitri is not responsible for orders delivered to an incorrect address provided by the customer.

Refund & Exchange Policy

  • All sales are final. We will not be able to offer refunds or exchanges once an order has been shipped.
  • As each piece is one-of-a-kind and handmade, we are unable to offer replacements for transit damage. We pack every order with 5 layers of protective packaging to ensure it reaches you safely.
